New Delhi: Organisers of the 2026 BWF World Championships announced that major upgrades have been completed at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium ahead of the tournament beginning later this month. The improvements follow criticism over facilities during the India Open earlier this year.
The venue has undergone roof repairs, better lighting, improved air-conditioning and enhanced security measures to prevent disruptions caused by birds and stray animals. Officials said player comfort and international standards have been given top priority.
Top international shuttlers, including India’s PV Sindhu, are expected to participate in the championship. The Badminton World Federation expressed confidence that New Delhi is fully prepared to host the prestigious event successfully.
