Agartala/New Delhi: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the death of former Tripura Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Dhankar travelled to New Delhi on 29 July 2026 to collect additional evidence and record statements from his family members. The visit is part of the state government’s ongoing effort to ensure a comprehensive and transparent investigation into the high-profile case.

Investigators are examining Dhankar’s recent communications, official records, digital evidence and personal interactions to reconstruct the events leading up to his death. Senior police officials stated that every possible angle is being investigated and no conclusions will be drawn until all evidence has been thoroughly analysed.

The death of the senior IPS officer at the Tripura Police Headquarters had shocked the state and attracted nationwide attention. The government constituted the SIT soon after the incident, assuring that the investigation would remain impartial and evidence-based. Authorities have appealed to the public to avoid speculation while the probe continues.
