New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the formation of a high-level task force headed by Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani to overhaul India’s examination system following nationwide protests over the NEET paper leak. The announcement came during a video message released on 26 July 2026.
The Prime Minister said the new panel would recommend reforms to make examinations more transparent, technology-driven and secure. He also announced that the government would introduce stricter legislation in Parliament to curb paper leaks and organised examination fraud.
The move followed the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and the government’s acceptance of several demands raised by student protesters, including comprehensive reforms to the examination process.
