Agartala: The Tripura Government on 18 July 2026 appointed Guardian Ministers for all eight districts to strengthen monitoring of development projects and improve coordination in implementing government welfare schemes. The initiative aims to ensure closer supervision of ongoing works and faster resolution of local issues across the state.
Under the new arrangement, each minister has been assigned responsibility for a specific district and will conduct regular visits to review infrastructure projects, public services and the implementation of state and central government schemes. The ministers will submit periodic reports directly to Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha.
Officials said the decision is intended to improve administrative efficiency, enhance accountability and ensure timely completion of development works. The Guardian Ministers will work closely with district administrations, elected representatives and local authorities to address public grievances and monitor progress on priority projects.
Chief Minister Manik Saha said the initiative would help accelerate development and improve governance by ensuring continuous oversight at the district level. The move follows a similar administrative model adopted in some other northeastern states to strengthen grassroots administration.
