New Delhi: US President Donald Trump is likely to visit India early next year, according to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The proposed visit is expected to focus on strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries while advancing discussions on a bilateral trade agreement.
Speaking about India-US relations, Rubio said preparations for the potential visit are underway and that he also plans to visit India later this year. The announcement follows recent high-level discussions between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Trump, during which trade, defence cooperation and emerging technologies were among the key issues discussed.
Officials from both countries have been working to deepen cooperation in areas such as investment, supply chains, energy security and the Indo-Pacific region. Analysts believe that a presidential visit would further enhance bilateral ties and provide momentum to several ongoing negotiations.
Diplomatic experts say the visit could pave the way for new agreements in trade, defence and technology while reinforcing the long-standing strategic partnership between India and the United States. An official schedule for the visit is yet to be announced.
