Agartala: Tripura on 22 July 2026 officially launched the self-enumeration process for Census 2027, becoming one of the early states to promote digital participation in the nationwide population census. Governor N. Indrasena Reddy inaugurated the initiative at Raj Bhavan by completing his own self-enumeration online, encouraging citizens to actively participate in the process.
State officials said the self-enumeration facility allows residents to submit their demographic details digitally before the door-to-door enumeration begins. The initiative is expected to improve the accuracy of census data while making the process more convenient and efficient for citizens.
The state administration appealed to people across Tripura to make use of the online platform and cooperate with census officials. Authorities said awareness campaigns would be conducted across urban and rural areas to ensure maximum public participation in the country’s largest data collection exercise.
The Census 2027 exercise is expected to play a crucial role in planning future development policies, welfare schemes and infrastructure projects. Officials stated that accurate population data will help governments make informed decisions for the state’s long-term growth and resource allocation.
